Church League Isn't That Bad

I just got home from an 8:30 PM softball game at Four Square softball field next to Wal Mart in Wooster. The weekday games that I have are part of our church league, which has always been very competitive. However, I never knew just how competitive it really was until I recently ventured out into other organized leagues around the area. Our church team, Ripley Church of Christ, has been playing very well lately and would be very competitive in the other open league I'm playing in currently. Tonight we won 17-5 in 6 innings, advancing our record to 4-1 and giving us our 2nd run-rule victory of the season (the other two victories were clutch, come-from-behind wins). I'm really liking our team. Top-to-bottom in the lineup, all the players know how to play the game, they hustle, and they work hard at the game. I am pleasantly surprised with our play on the defensive end, as well. I'm sure we'll lose a few more games before the regular season ends, but our team definitely has potential and could get a good seed for the tournament in a month or two. (it's a much shorter league than the other one I'm in on Sundays, which lasts all Summer)

It's encouraging knowing that I think I've gotten over the hump of trying to hit the softball. I've always had a good swing and good bat speed, but I never really knew how to hit a softball really well. Lately, though, I kind of had an "Ah-ha!" moment when I was at the plate, I adjusted some things with my swing, and I have been hitting the ball on the nose ever since. I just want to get out there and keep playing and see how long this streak can last. We don't have any more church league softball left this week, but I'm super excited to play this Sunday for our Lakewood team, Sofa Kings, at 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM at Usher Field. We play a team that is 7-1, so we'll need to bring our A-game; but we are definitely capable of beating anybody! Here's hoping to getting a split this Sunday, or maybe even getting two upset wins. Who knows!

When I got out of the shower tonight, I immediately put duct tape on my right ring finger, between the base of the finger and the first knuckle, to cover up a wart that I've had there for almost a year. I used to have a wart on another finger on the other hand a long while ago and killed it by covering it with duct tape for about a week, depriving it of oxygen. It eventually died, and I was able to pull it out (not pretty!). I'm hoping the same will happen with this one eventually. It's not as developed as the other one was, though, so I'm not sure if it's sticking out of my finger far enough to be pulled out once it dies... but I'll find out. Haha. I'll keep you updated, 'cuz I'll be pumped when this thing is finally out of my body.

I think that's about all I have right now that's going on. Soon, though, football season will be creeping up on us, and we all know how exciting the football season can get. I cannot wait! Oh, I am playing my first game of ultimate Frisbee this year tomorrow in Akron. I used to play just about every Friday last year, but I haven't been able to go yet this year because of baseball and other obligations that happened to fall on Friday. But I'm finally free, and I'm excited to get out there, throw the Frisbee around, run it down some, and get a workout. That's the thing about ultimate Frisbee - it's fun, but, boy, is it a workout!

Smile! May God continue to bless you.
